Brotherhood
With more than 80 active men and over 30 brothers living in the house, the Alpha Eta chapter of Theta Xi is strong and healthy. We participate in over a dozen planned and organized outdoor functions annually from wakeboarding at Lake Powell to hiking Colorado’s peaks. We have held some of the largest parties on campus while maintaining the recognition of the best risk management of any fraternity on campus for years. We pride ourselves on being active in our community and in our house with our activities and broad sense of character; collaborating to create one of the strongest lifelong friendships, creating a brotherhood.
Academics
Fraternities have had a strong reputation when it comes to academics. The Greek system has an overall higher GPA than that of the average student populace. While being Greek has its perks, one of them is the skills acquired to learn time management. This is a fundamental tool for any student. Amidst all the livelihood of college life, balancing academics with ones social life and other responsibilities can be tough. Theta Xi helps give you the tools necessary to build and acquire this skill and keep good grades while maintaining a healthy social life.
Leadership
Nationally, Theta Xi is known for leadership, and our Alpha Eta chapter is no different. University of Colorado at Boulder is not just a classroom and library campus, and Theta Xi’s are more than just college men. Every man of Theta Xi is encouraged to find an organization or activity on campus to get involved in and contribute to in a servant-leadership format. Theta Xi’s can be found leading together everywhere on campus from the Outdoor Program to the Cooperative Institute for Research and Environmental Studies, from local churches to local businesses, and from SEMS, NOAA, to IFC, Homecoming Committee, Greek Week Committee, representatives and Director of Technology. Excellence and Leadership are not only taught but lived and exemplified by true men of Theta Xi.
Adventure
We understand that school can become stressful, and times to relax are not just a convenience, but a necessity. Every semester Theta Xi holds parties at the house, retreats, and cookouts. Enjoy a tailgate before a CU football game, and bring a special lady to our formal in the mountains in the fall or the spring getaway before summer. Come to our Graffiti, Theta Xiland, Heaven or Hell, or Rock Star party. Join your brothers on camping trips and spring break adventures, enjoy hiking Colorado’s fourteeners to weekend’s ice climbing, traveling to the Sand Dunes, Hanging Lake or daily trips of climbing, and snowboarding or skiing and a BBQ at Arapahoe Basin. Other than our organized events brothers go out take advantage of the weather after class to hike the Flat Irons, bike, climb, run or play Frisbee on Farrand Field. Whatever you enjoy doing or want to get into there is an outlet for you here.
Nobility
Greeks have had the unfortunate stereotype for being the rowdy, loud and hazing group of men that run around and cause chaos like in the movies. At the University of Colorado at Boulder we are trying to tamper this stereotype and illustrate how we benefit the community. At Theta Xi we participate in semiannual philanthropies benefiting Multiple Sclerosis as its National Service Project as well as Habitat for Humanity. We try to give back; teaching scouts how to climb in Eldorado Canyon State Park and a Ski Fest for MS.
Community Service
In 1974, Theta Xi adopted Multiple Sclerosis as its National Service Project. We spend hours giving back to our community from Scout climbs to fundraisers. We are going to partake in trail maintenance and clean up in Eldorado Canyon in the fall as well.
Extreme Sports
How does the chance to get to enjoy Colorado to its greatest potential sound? Hike its fourteeners, ride its powder and have a barbeque at the parking lot for lunch, tube Boulder Canyon Creek, hike the Flat Irons, participate in intramurals, mountain bike, rock climb, explore its caves, ice climb, paintball, snow cave, or go to the Sand Dunes. If that doesn’t sound like exploring Colorado, what does?
